Position Definition

The Product Manager is responsible for the vision and profitability of a product line. Product Managers work closely with various teams to make business decisions and create product strategies that ensure the company’s long term sustainability. In the execution of these strategies Product Managers work with various departments to ensure company goals are met on time and on budget while client and market needs are met.

The Product Manager works with the Technology, Sales, and Client Services teams to build and enhance products from existing ideas, and help develop new concepts based on industry research and the needs of customers and prospects. A Product Manager possesses a unique blend of business and technical savvy, a big-picture vision, and the drive to make that vision a reality. A Product Manager conducts market research including working in the field to understand target audience needs and issues, and find innovative solutions for existing and new market segments. The Product Manager will stay on top of current trends and develop long term plans for the success of the product line.

The Product Manager is the champion for the product and must communicate with all areas of the company. He or she will work with Business Analysts and Engineering to define product requirements. The Product Manager will work with Sales and Marketing Support to define the go-to-market strategy, helping them understand the product positioning, key benefits, and target customers. The Product Manager will also serve as the internal and external subject matter expert for product offerings, working with the sales channel and key clients. The Product Manager is also responsible for the financial sustainability of the product, creating and updating profit and loss documents while working with Finance.

Job Overview

AOT is looking for a ERP Software Product Manager to join our Ship ERP Product Management Team based in Chennai, India or Singapore. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, highly motivated, hands-on supply chain professional with relevant experience in working with business and engineering teams. The position will be responsible for developing the product roadmap for Ship Management software, gathering detailed business requirements from stakeholders and collaborating with engineering teams to deliver the solutions. Highly capable in impact assessment of initiatives on other areas of supply chain and analytics. Ability to rapidly adapt and manage multiple initiatives of varying priorities across various ERP modules - Planned Maintenance System, Inventory Management, Quality Management, Document Management, Procurement and logistics and Crew Management.

The Role and Responsibilities

  • Work closely with business and engineering teams to translate business vision & objectives into actionable tech initiatives across application, and analytics
  • Translate complex business needs into simple, detailed & straightforward product requirements with help of process flows, use-cases and clear assumptions
  • Create a product release plan while working with external and internal stakeholders, based on resource availability, market demands and competitive landscape
  • Be the product owner and manage the prioritization and backlog of business requirements, conduct scoping estimates and be the primary point of contact for business and engineering teams. Create EPIC’s/User Stories for business initiatives and work closely with respective scrum masters to get them delivered
  • For each initiative, conduct due diligence and impact analysis using data, process knowledge, and use-cases with a goal to elicit comprehensive requirements across application, ETL and analytics layer
  • Coordinate with engineering teams to conduct proof of concept where required to ensure solution meets business objectives
  • Document concise ‘As-Is’ and ‘To-Be’ process flow and articulate changes to user interactions/ touchpoints along with system integrations
  • Understand the impact of supply chain initiatives on Integration/ETL/DataWarehouse/Analytics area and document any cross application / functional impact that should be addressed along with the delivery of initiatives
  • Collaborate with engineering teams through the build process and ensure solution delivered meets functional / non functional / security / usability requirements within agreed timelines
  • Collaborate with engineering and business teams to ensure UAT is planned, organized and conducted smoothly
  • Support business teams/ delivery manager during the rollout of initiatives to business functions/users
  • Analyze and understand regulatory/ compliance requirements in Shipping industry and create product requirements to meet industry regulations while following process, procedure and policies of the organization
  • Create a plan for enhancing current and new product’s User Interface and work flows in order to enhance overall user experience of the end users

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum 7 years of relevant experience working in supply chain domain in the capacity of supply chain business analyst or supply chain product manager or equivalent experience in supply chain
  • Demonstrated success defining, launching, and maintaining excellent products
  • Excellent understanding of critical supply chain processes with expertise in either demand planning, inventory planning, transportation (inbound/outbound) and supply planning /procurement. Should be able to articulate and correlate various supply chain processes and impact of initiatives across these process
  • Excellent analytical skills, confident to present a point of view and reason well with Business & Engineering stakeholders
  • Ability to run workshop with business stakeholders/ users, consolidate their requirements, influence the decision makers and translate them to respective development leads
  • Ability to gather data from various streams and analyze data, manage multiple concurrent initiatives in a dynamic, fast-paced organization
  • Strong interpersonal team skills, fluent communicator, collaborative mindset and belief in TEAM (Together Everyone Achieves More)
  • Passionate to learn and stay updated with the latest in supply chain domain
  • Must be willing to travel
  • Understanding of Operating systems, databases, applications and Cloud environment generally used in ERP deployments
  • Complete knowledge of SDLC

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant working experience in ERP software (Microsoft Dynamics / Oracle / SAP) is a plus
  • Shipping Industry domain knowledge (Marine Engineering, Navigation, Naval Architecture)
  • Certification in CPIM / CSCP / Agile Product Owner is a plus
  • Experience with working in .NET, Java, Angular JS environment
  • Corporate CRM experience a plus

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • MBA / master’s is a plus
